Welcome to Dear Stranger
Welcome to a corner of the internet where strangers become pen pals.
Dear Stranger,
Welcome to a corner of the internet where strangers become pen pals.
I’m Dakkota, and I created this space because I believe in the power of letters—the kind we write when we’re alone, the truths we don’t say out loud, the words we’ve been holding that need somewhere to go.
Here’s what Dear Stranger is:
A monthly anonymous letter exchange between subscribers around the world.
Every month, I’ll send a prompt—a theme, a question, an invitation to honesty. Paid subscribers write in response and submit their letters anonymously. I pair them thoughtfully with another subscriber, and they exchange letters.
You receive someone else’s truth. They receive yours.
No names. No email addresses. No identifying details. Just honest words between two people who will never meet but, for a moment, understand each other.
Some exchanges stay private. Others, with permission, join our growing archive—a collection of unspoken words that free subscribers can read each month.
Why anonymous letters?
Because anonymity creates safety.
It removes the performance. The fear of judgment. The weight of being known. It lets us say things we’d never say if someone might recognize us.
I wanted to bring back the lost art of letter writing—but for the modern world. A world where we need spaces to be vulnerable without fear.
Dear Stranger is that space.
How it works
For Paid Subscribers ($8/month):
Receive a monthly prompt (around the 1st)
Write your anonymous letter (deadline: the 10th)
Receive an exchange (around the 15th-18th) from another subscriber
Optional: Have your letter published in the monthly archive
For Free Subscribers:
Receive the monthly published archive—a curated collection of anonymous letters from the community.
Our first prompt - Coming November 1st
On November 1st, paid subscribers will receive the first prompt—an invitation to write about something foundational, something true.
I’m keeping it under wraps until launch day. Let it be a surprise.
Deadline: November 10th
Paid subscribers will receive a welcome email with a link to submit your letter.
Not a paid subscriber yet?
A note on the first month
The first month will be an experiment. I don’t know how many people will participate or what the letters will be like. I don’t know if this will resonate or fall flat.
But I know this: if even two strangers exchange honest letters and feel less alone because of it, it will have been worth creating.
If you’re here, thank you. Thank you for being brave enough to try something like this. Thank you for trusting this space with your words or your attention.
Let’s see what happens when strangers tell each other the truth.
What to expect
If you’re a paid subscriber:
You’ll receive your first exchange around November 15th-18th. Around November 25th, you’ll get the first published archive along with everyone else.
If you’re a free subscriber:
Around November 25th, you’ll receive a collection of selected letters from this month’s exchanges. Read them slowly. One might feel like it was written for you.
Take your time. Write honestly. Trust that your words will reach someone who needs to read them.
Every letter begins with truth.
Each one ends the same way.
With love,
Dakkota
